Back in 2004, the world was introduced to a game where players can build literally anything they can imagine. This game enables players to do experiments with a wide range of creative tools and functions, and build any kind of experience they want. Yes, I am talking about Garry’s Mod.

It is a game that binds all the best aspects of sandbox gaming to one place, and it's completely customizable. Garry’s Mod liberates players with an unprecedented level of control since its release. It still has a big community that engages itself in further developing the game.

If you’re someone who wants to try out this game, then you’re at the right place. Because this is a step-by-step guide on “How to install Garry’s Mod on Windows Server?”. But before proceeding, let’s learn about Garry’s Mod and its dynamics first.

Often referred to as GMod, Garry’s Mod is a standalone video game available on Steam. This game enables players to manipulate objects, or props in the game to make creative devices for better gaming.

The players are provided with a Physics Gun and a Tool Gun to manipulate the props and position them wherever they want. Players can also opt to choose multiplayer gaming and communicate with each other via text or voice chat.

Garry’s Mod gives players a sheer amount of freedom. Sure, the game is embedded with maps and characters, but the Steam Workshop takes this game straight to a new level.

A lot of assets from multiple sources allows players to freely reign over the physics, NPCs, vehicles, weapons, objects, and enemies. Players can plan upon the maps from other games, like Left 4 Dead, Portal, and Half-Life 2, and spawn elements from those games as well.

Gameplay

The game comes with two different modes:

  • Sandbox
  • Trouble in Terrorist Town

Sandbox is pretty straight forward. It has maps so that you can mess around with the world. Allows you to spawn NPCs from Half-Life 2, along with ragdolls and props of your choice. Initially, you will be served with two powerful guns, the Physics Gun and the Tool Gun.

With the Physics Gun, you can manipulate any physical object for turning, throwing, drowning, and even naming it. Moreover, the Tool Gun enables us to weld objects together, inflate ragdolls, and many other things that are extremely useful and can’t be described in a paragraph.

On the other hand, Trouble in the Terrorist town has simple and basic rules. You’ll enter the game with a bunch of other players and a couple of them are traitors. The goal of the traitors is to eliminate the other players, and the goal of other players is to eliminate the traitors.

The usable weapons are scattered all over the map, which can be picked by the players. The game doesn’t tell who the traitor is to make it more fun to play.

The game also allows players to play online. You can opt from a lot of different hosts in different modes through which you can play with other players. However, if you’re playing online you might meet players with powerful mods which can be a big disadvantage.

Reasons to Love Garry’s Mod

  • Uses Steam Workshop, which provides unlimited modifications that add new ways to play the game.
  • Enables multiple local and online players to play together.
  • Allows players to choose or spawn various maps and also supplies players with many tools to make endless possibilities.
  • Files from games using the Source game engine can be used in Garry’s Mod.
  • Provides customization with controls.
  • Can be used to create art.

The huge fanbase and community keep Garry’s Mod alive and they are the main reason for the huge success of this game. A lot of new things are being added every day, therefore, it can be said that GMod, is a one-of-a-kind gaming experience.
