Just after ICANN's GAC issued its Early Warnings, which are advice given from one GAC member country to an applicant warning it of potential issues within its application, the European Commission issued a letter to all applicants within the new gTLD program. The letter highlights 58 applications that "could raise issues of compatibility with the existing legislation .. and/or with policy positions and objectives of the European Union." It notes a desire to open a dialogue with each offending applicant. The Commission specifically notes that this objection is not a part of the GAC Early Warning process, and goes on to note that "the Commission does not consider itself legally bound to [ICANN] processes," given that there is not legal agreement between the two bodies.DomainIncite.com/Docs Published 27 Nov 2012, Retrieved 11 Dec 2012Europe Rejects ICANNs Authority As it Warns of Problems with 58 New gTLDs, DomainIncite.com Published 27 Nov 2012, Retrieved 11 Dec 2012 ==Application Details== The following is an excerpt from the applicant's response to question #18: "The intended mission and purpose of .SAFETY is to serve as a trusted, hierarchical, intuitive namespace for a network of customers, potential customers, corporations, first responders, experts, and other service organizations to interact with peers, and have access to authoritative content, and generally needed and valuable safety information. In furtherance of this goal, Safety Registry aims to publish a Charter and all associated policies, guidelines, and other supporting documentation related to the implementation of the registry consistent with the Purpose, all prior to launch. All second-level domain names registered by Safety Registry on behalf of itself or a parent⁄affiliate will be registered through an ICANN-accredited registrar and will be consistent with the Purpose. 18.1.2 Grainger’s Commitment to Safety As the largest distributor of safety products in North America, Grainger understands the safety needs of companies and organizations operating facilities safely and helping keep employees safe. Depending upon the reception of .SAFETY, Safety Registry envisions the creation of a Safety Network that could serve as an independent membership organization. Membership in the Safety Network could be a prerequisite to being eligible to register a .SAFETY domain name. While Grainger intends to commit to the initial funding and launch of .SAFETY, it views this future creation of the Safety Network as an important step in the long-term independence, viability, and credibility of .SAFETY. Through the Safety Network, Safety Registry aims to vet the potential registrant pool to ensure that .SAFETY will be a trusted and authoritative namespace of safety-related information, including guidelines and requirements. As currently planned, all members of the Safety Network will also be bound by the Charter, and will be required to abide by the rules and standards set forth in order to maintain registration rights of a .SAFETY domain. Eligible entities may include, but are not limited to the following: Manufacturers⁄resellers of safety products (even if they are competitors of Grainger) Public safety departments Fire departments Educational institutions Hospitals Non-governmental organizations"Application Download, gTLD.ICANN.org Retrieved 15 Feb 2013 ==References== reflist

Domain naming tips

3 basic tips when selecting the right domain name for your website.

Using a local top level domain

If it’s a local business and you want more customers, why not take a look at our domains which are given according to the location you require (.lt , .co.uk, .nyc, .berlin).

Avoid numbers

Avoid the usage of numbers because the people who hear about your website will be having a tough time figuring out if the website contains the number (2) or the number in words (two).

Avoid symbols

Hyphens and dashes will make things complicated and it doesn’t look professional.
